Grant Baldwin Wins Georgia State Time Trial Championship!!!


On what he described as a "punchy" State Time Trial Championship course, Grant Baldwin continued to dominate in this specialized discipline and won the State Jersey. With over 1100 feet of ascencion across 21+ miles Grant laid down a pace that could not be matched by many let alone those competing against him in his Masters 35-39 age group. Lets hope Grant will be able to continue his winning ways as he focuses on Masters Nationals later this summer. Congratulations, Grant!

Preparations are in full swing for this year's edition of the Cherokee County Road Race scheduled for Saturday 06/05. We have a full schedule of races and a generous purse with $4000 in cash and prizes set aside for competitors. Make plans to come out and race through some of North Georgia's most beautiful horse country on a 16.5 mile ocasionally "toothy" course full of twists, turns, ups and downs. Having hosted the State Road Race Championships in 2009, we're thrilled to have this event on the calendar as a terrific preparation for the 2010 championships in Augusta, GA two weeks later. On a gorgeous Sunday in April members of NGCA-ATLroof.com worked from sun up to well after sun down organizing and hosting the Historic Roswell Criterium. In addition to running the event, many members couldn't help themselves and went out to race for their team colors. Alexis Brown (pictured above, photo compliments of Michael Desmond) of NGCA-ATLroof.com's elite women's squad showed she could mix some pleasure with the tough business of competing against professional bike racers in the Women's Pro1,2 field. Eric May also wowed audiences with his willingness to tough out well over an hour in a men's Pro 1,2 race that had national implications. Congratulations to all of our competitors and a heartfelt thank to all event volunteers! See you all in 2011!

Members of NGCA-ATLroof.com (Brian Coll, Eric May and Nello Teer pictured) took to the streets on Tuesday March 23rd and partook in the 5th Annual Georgia Rides to the Capitol. The ride police escorted ride from Roswell led hundreds of cyclists to the capital steps where we joined another large group rolling in from Decatur. The group heard several members from the Metro Atlanta Mayors Association (MAMA) speak in favor of cycling related activities and cycling legistlation being considered by the State government. Well over 1,000 cyclists enjoyed a beautiful Tuesday listening, speaking and rallying for the cause of cycling.

With tremendous enthusiasm for the 2010 campaign, the NGCA-ATLroof.com raceteam (formerly Team Cycleworks p/b HDR) gathered on the plains just outside LaGrange, GA last weekend for a late winter training camp. With 7 State titles and 1 National title in the last two years, NGCA-ATLroof.com will again be fielding competitive squads in Men's Cat 4, Cat 3 and Master's divisions as well as Women's 1,2,3. The off-season has been a busy one. With the loss of previous title sponsor, HDR, the organization inked a multi-year deal with one of Atlanta's highest rated commercial and residential roofing companies- ATLroof.com. And, after a merger with Roswell Velo, there was a move to Roswell Bicycles as the shop sponsor. In addition to the upcoming racing season, the club is looking forward to making its' annual contribution to the Georgia racing calendar by hosting the Historic Roswell Criterium on Sunday 04/25 and the Cherokee County Road Race on Saturday 06/05.

On a gorgeous Sunday in late August Kate Mahoney showed the Atlanta cycling scene that she can be a force to be reckoned with her win in the Women's 3/4 field on the tough Grant Park Criterium course. Kate rode dominantly throughout the race, assuring others in the field that she was not going to be denied an opportunity to leave a prominent mark on this event. After smoking the field in the Women's 3/4 race she still had enough in the tank to have a very strong showing in the Women's 1-3 race!!!! Congratulations to Kate and all that competed at the Grant Park Criterium!
Read more...Travis Neumuller gets GA Games Road Race Championship win and Team Cycleworks p/b HDR take several medals!!!!!

Travis Neumuller got his first road race win on Saturday July, 11th in the Georgia Games Cat 4 Road Race Championship. After spending some time in a late break, Travis drifted back to the pack, leaving teammate Dan Klapheke in the break to wear down the rest of the chasing field. With the break caught within the last kilometer Travis made a bold move and initiated a solo attack on the uphill approach to the line. The field could not answer and Travis took home the gold medal! Congratulations to all participants and medal winners during the Georgia Games Cycling Championships weekend!

Contributing to Travis Neumeller's chase for the points lead in the Georgia Cycling Grand Prix on Saturday 06/27 at the Cycle for Parkinsons Road Race, Eddie Hsu was well supported by his Cat 4 teammates in an effort that landed him in 3rd place at the Cycle for Parkinsons criterium on Sunday 06/28. Congratulations also goes to Kitty Wickes for her 2nd place finish on Saturday and a top 5 finish Sunday!!!

Amidst a season of multiple wins and numerous podiums Team Cycleworks p/b HDR continues to rack up and celebrate titles for the 2009 season. Mitch Askew (pictured above) is demonstrating exceptional form this year, winning the Category 2 Georgia State Criterium Championship in Macon, GA on Saturday 06/13 as well as the State Time Trial Championship in his age group the previous weekend. In addition, Kitty Wickes continued to assert herself among women racers in Georgia by taking the State Criterium Championship in her category. Congratulations to Mitch and Kitty on their two State jerseys this year!!! And we all want to wish good luck to those traveling to Louisville, KY in the coming weeks to compete for Master Nationals Titles.

The 2008 Cyclocross season drew to a close on Sunday 12/07. Team Cycleworks p/b HDR was exceptionally well represented this year across several divisions. With Brad Harper taking multiple wins and Travis Neumeller wearing the leaders jersey in his first win and ultimately taking 2nd position for his entire series , the campaign can be viewed as nothing short of a success. Demonstrating exceptional fitness in a highly competitive category, Brad Harper took his second victory in three races in the Conyers Cyclocross Men's Masters' 45 + division. This certainly should make him a favorite for his division's State Championship and possible an overall series winner in the Georgia Cross series! Congratulations, Brad!

Congratulations to Daniel Karnis (on the left) for completing the leg breaking 6 Gap Century in Dahlonega, GA in a staggering 5 hours 9 minutes. 6 Gap is a popular ride in North Georgia covering 100+ miles and 6 mountains with 11,200 feet of vertical climbing!

Read more...2nd Annual Ride to Rockmart and Back
On a gorgeous Saturday in late September Team Cycleworsk p/b HDR and some friends rolled on to the Silver Comet Trail head west for Rockmart. While some did not make the complete round trip, one thing is for certain, it was a good time to be had by all at 2nd Annual Ride to Rockmart and Back. Whether folks were priming their legs for 6-gap the following day, using this ride to ride further than they had ever gone before or shaking off some cobwebs getting ready for the upcoming winter season, it seemed this ride had something to offer everyone.
